Toyota Gazoo Racing
Development is best achieved in extreme conditions.
That’s why we compete in motorsports around the world.
Our philosophy is “the road shapes the driver as well as the vehicle.”
TOYOTA GAZOO Racing team has been competing at the Dakar Rally since 2012 and, as TOYOTA GAZOO Racing South Africa, achieved Toyota's first overall victory in 2019. Since its first Dakar Rally entry, the team recorded best overall results of 3rd (2012), 2nd (2013), 4th (2014), 2nd (2015), 3rd (2016), 5th (2017), 2nd (2018), 1st (2019) and 2nd (2020). For the rally 2021, the team competed in the latest version of the Toyota Hilux, built and developed in South Africa, and won 2nd place.
(FIA WORLD RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP)
The WRC is considered the greatest event of motorsports, which makes it the ideal arena for us to learn about the world's roads. By going for the top WRC category with the Yaris World Rally Car, which was developed based on the production Yaris, we accomplished three goals: We were able to train people in extreme conditions. We developed technologies at a high level. And we used the knowledge and experience gained as feedback in the development of new production vehicles. These are the reasons Toyota decided to take on the WRC in the first place.
In 2021, Safari Kenya Rally is back on the WRC calendar, from 24 to 27 June.
